Re: Selectable locker in JK Dana 30

I have an Ected, came in the Jeep, The LSD works VERY well, so well that I have not engaged the locker since I put a Spartan up front. When engaged, they can be a bit odd, they arent LOCKED, think of it as a very tight LSD. You can actually get them to slip, which is un-nerving when they do it, cuz ...

Re: doorless tj question dome light help

You can also wire up a switch inline with that fuse, thats how mine is.
Fuse stays in place, flip a switch on the dash when the doors are off.

I guess for my needs the snow and ice part would be my main concern with them. Since I like playing in the snow :)
Guess could try grooving them.

Re: Q78-16 Super Swamper TSL (36x11) Tall and skinny

Good to hear you are liking these, I am still deciding what tire I want to run once I get my Jeep to "stage 2" But know that I want a tall skinny tire, these seem to fit the bill very well. Mine will still be staying street legal, but it wont see alot of street mileage, since its not really a daily ...

Re: On board air...what do you use?

I have used several setups, here is what my experience has been. First I had a cheapo electric, eventually installed it in the jeep with a 5 gallon tank. http://jtice.com/jeep/9-5-08/ Unless you buy a very nice high end electric compressor, they kinda suck. They are fairly slow, and tend to overheat...

Re: If you had $1000 to spend on your Jeep...

I agree completely there, if you are breaking ujoints alot, and ears, and while turning, you know its the binding issue. And that is when you see most breaks, when the wheels are turned. The numbers are hard to find on some of this stuff cuz you dont know what part of the shafts they are rating, or ...

Re: If you had $1000 to spend on your Jeep...

I wasnt meaning to say that the R&P in the D30 is too weak for 35s, only that I think it would be the weak link if you went to RCVs. Sure, that doesnt matter if you never wheel hard enough to break the R&P, I was just curious/concerned about the times you snap stock shafts, if you went to RCVs, woul...

Re: If you had $1000 to spend on your Jeep...

Correct me if I am wrong (its been known to happen), but wouldnt putting RCVs in the D30 make the weak point the gears?
Which, would not be good. I would rather replace ujoints and shafts I would think. Especially if you have ready to swap axle shafts for the trail.

Re: If you had $1000 to spend on your Jeep...

If you plan to do much wheeling on rocks, you will want to regear pretty soon, and pretty much HAVE to with 35s. That being said, think long term, try not to do things twice. Dont regear an axle you might swap out any time soon. Since you have a D44 I would just keep that, yes a 8.8 is a bit stronge...
