J-20 steering box in your CJ's

Post by wearethebucs » Mon Jul 07, 2008 11:36 pm

If you need to replace your power steering gearbox in a 76-86 CJ you can order a box for the same year J-20. ex.(I had a 77' CJ-5 so I ordered a box for a 77' J-20). The only other part you need is a steering shaft coupler from a manual steering box. The box bolts right up and needs no mods to itself! You might ask the benefits...? Well the J-20 box is about half the price, its got more power, AND you get a variable steering ratio.

Now for those of you who want to convert to power steering...The same goes as above EXCEPT that the pitman arm off your manual box won't fit on the J-20 box.

If it ain't leakin' it must be empty.
