Re: STAK or ATLAS?
What's Stak's reputation? I know what the general feeling of Atlas is, but I just don't hear much about Stak.

Re: STAK or ATLAS?
Stak has had a few bumps in the road, I know of atleast 3 input shafts shearing off on a 4.0L powered wrangler. Atlas is a tried and true product.... They have had years to perfect anything, and everything they produce, and if it will hold up to the power Rodney's Blazer puts out im sure it will be fine behind a 4.0L

I do not see where Atlas has Stak to the point you can make a "nuff said" argument.
Considering price, size and gearing options, I do not see where Atlas is a better choice than a Stak. The Atlas 4 speeds really only have 3 usable gears. atleast 1 gear is worthless and really not even worth having.

Re: STAK or ATLAS?
Nope, straight up to the tranny. One was a 3-speed, and the other were 2 speed cases, but as far as I know they are the same from case to case.

Also, why are you set on a 3 or 4 speed case?

Re: STAK or ATLAS?
Best of all worlds with atleast 3 speeds in the case. Can keep better gears in the axles for the highway without a sacrifice on the trail.
Right now, I have 4:1. It's not really a good low range for just driving on trails (TOO slow). It is however very adequat for a Low range, and I could stand for it to be slightly lower. 4wd high lacks the nutts with only 4.10 gears and either smokes the clutch or wants to stall out. a 2:1 would be great for 4wd on quicker trail sections. I will regear on the next set of axles, but I am still keeping it highway friendly.
If I'm going to spend the money, I know I won't regret a 3 or 4 speed. If I only get a 2 speed, there will allways be the chance that Ill wish I had the other gears (i'm sure of it).

My truck has been parked since I met you in Jane lew
Ive been driving my Jeep to Uniontown for the past 3 or 4 weeks to work. The Ram is hands down more comfortable and easier to put my suitcase in, but I still fight with the Jeep.

Re: STAK or ATLAS?
Hmm do you have the driveshaft length to run a 3 or 4 speed case?
