Thanks!

I have always wanted an LJ. It's been a lot of fun building it up. Not anywhere close to being done yet.

New heavy duty hinges and tire carrier, new replacement Bestop and a Teraflex mount for the Firestik.

Moved the spare tire down so it sits on the bumper now. Much better solution for vibrations and also keeps it low so I can see out the back window. It also takes the load off of the tailgate.

Working on a cowl cold air intake and a bolt in cage now.

Are those hinges pretty beefy? No matter how much WD I spray on mine they still squeak and that’s with no tire on it at all.

Hinges have a hidden grease fitting inside. I will get you a picture tomorrow. They are very beefy. Part of the Exogate system that I bought.

Got my Spectre Cowl Cold Air Induction installed tonight after two evenings of work. I can definitely feel the difference in throttle response, especially with the new muffler. And the driver's seat dyno says I have added some horsepower. But I'm not sure I would do it again, as it is a pain in the buttocks to install.

Only thing left now is the bolt in cage.

What made it tough? When you said cork induction I thought you were pulling air from the area under the wipers.

I am pulling air from the cowl. There is a second black pipe that is hard to see in the picture. It provides fresh air from the cowl to the filter. The pipe you can see easily in the picture provides air from the filter to the intake.

The first hurdle was drilling the intake tube and fitting it for the IAT sensor. The directions called for a 3/4" hole and it turns out you need close to a 15/16" to make it fit properly. But the real PITA is drilling a 3" hole to access the cowl. I tried three different hole saws and finally ending up drilling several smaller holes and connecting them with a sawzall. Reaching over the engine the entire time and trying to reroute all of the wiring was no small task either, but I finally got it done. I don't think I would do it again. Would be much easier to use the K&N and leave the cowl stuff alone.

Gotcha. I can’t see the other tube.
