Looking at getting my winch wired up and working again.

Would like to do an in-cab control, but not sure how to go about that process.

Anybody care to chime in and help a brother out? (I'm looking at you, smccollamjr!)

I used a tarp motor switch on mine - like the coal trucks use on their trailers - not a very good picture, but if you just look just under the radio to the left of the shifter, it's a spring loaded switch that you just turn one one for in and the other way for out

Still have the power plant? I just use a 3 position momentary switch. I also have a switch you have to turn on before the 3 position switch will work. My smitty winch is pretty easy to connect to. Let me know what kind of winch you have and I'll do some research.

I got a brand new Smittybilt 9500 for Christmas.

Looking to use the Daystar switch panel (A pillar or center, doesn't matter to me).

Let me know what you think.

I was thinking one switch to turn on the power and another three position switch for in / out / neutral.

Can you offer any insight, Steve O?

I finally got my Adams driveshafts installed.

And it looks like it was just in the nick of time, as Black2000Tj needed my factory rear shaft to replace the one he tore up in Mexico on New Year's Eve.

That's how I did mine. I used a momentary 3 position switch so it so goes back to the middle/off when you let go of it. I also used a lighted switch for power so I wouldn't accidentally leave it on. I haven't seen the day star panels, but you want to put the 3 position switch somewhere that's easy to reach from your normal driving position. You need to be able to drive and operate the winch at the same time.

I'm leaning towards the A pillar. Could be reached from the driver's seat but also accessible from outside if you have the window down.

I put mine in the console so the passenger can help if necessary. If I need to do it from out side I'll use the remote. Just something to think about.

Did you mount your control box on the winch or under the hood? I'm thinking the box would be better protected from the elements under the hood, but it would also make it somewhat difficult to use a wired remote if I did so.

It's under the hood. I took the solenoid out of the box and mounted it to the firewall. I had to buy more wire. I have/had full intentions of mounting the remote plug on the fender or grill but haven't done it yet.

Well, this one is gone now too.

For the first time in a long time, I am Jeep-less.

I'm thinking I will wait until the JT comes out next Fall before taking the leap again.

The trade that was offered on my Jeep was just too good to pass up.

I will have another someday. I am really anxious to see the new JT when it comes out.
