New Guy
« on: January 29, 2019, 01:24:36 PM »
Hi, I'm Dan.  New to jeeps, new to forums.  Or something.

Used to have an '02 TJ with some stuff on it.  Sold it.  Missed it every day, but haven't had time to wheel anyway.

Recently bought an '06 TJ that will be shared with my son Hunter who is starting to drive.  It was stock except for black steelies and 31" ATs.  Put a 2" OME lift on it, got some used 32" Falken Wildpeak ATs from someone on the 304 facebook page, and put a Warn winch on it.  Also have some wide flares and a Rampage soft top waiting for a little better weather to be installed.

Attached is a pic of my boy and the new jeep.  EDIT: It appears to be huge and upside down.  Nice.

New.... right. LOL.  Good thing we have members testing!  It appears the upside down issue is common to photos posted from a phone. Phones build in some rotation data due to the way they work. Even though the picture displays properly on a computer, it will have exif data that shows rotation of 180 degrees.  Looking for solutions.

Yep, I've seen that problem when using phone photos in other apps, also.

For the record, that photo was taken by a phone, uploaded to google photos, downloaded to my laptop, then attached using chrome on my laptop.  It is oriented correctly everywhere but here.

I don't have much SMF experience, but if you want me to poke around in anything, let me know.

It's absolutely an SMF, with phone taken pictures specific issue. Exif data on that picture shows iPhone 5s, with orientation 3, rotation 180. So the good news is, its kept all its data in its travels throughout the internet.  ;D .

I think I have a fix for that, just need to test.

If you see anything that applies, I would certainly appreciate it!

It wont fix the already uploaded image. But give it another try when you have time. Hopefully we've got it set now.

Awesome, right side up now. Now to adjust sizes of already uploaded images.

Good to hear from you Dan! Nice TJ! We bought our oldest a 97 XJ 5-speed w/ 222k miles. Weve had a lot of fun working on it.

That is actually partly how we came to a jeep.  :)  We were thinking all along about getting him a truck, then you posted on the old forum about getting your son an XJ.  So I started digging around more into non-TJ jeeps, and we actually decided on a WJ (my wife didn't want him in a vehicle older than he was).  We started looking at WJs (while still keeping on eye on TJs for me), and this one fell in our lap.  His favorite color too!

My oldest son had an XJ for awhile. It was great for both of us. He still regrets getting rid of it, and will have another.

Is great stuff for father and son time.

A regular cab truck was my second choice. Regular cab to limit his passengers and a truck is always handy to have around. I looked at YJs and TJs but everything in my price range was a ragged out rust bucket and Im sure insurance would be more. Orange is my sons favorite color too.
