Check those hood latches!
« on: April 25, 2019, 04:46:11 PM »
After reading a thread on www.wranglerforum.com about a year ago about catastrophic failure of hood latches causing the hood to fly into the windshield, and experiencing hood flutter myself, I replaced the OEM rubber band latches on my 2011 Sport with Rugged Ridge latches.  There was a recent thread where someone stated that there was a safety latch and he would trust that to hold his hood down.

Here is me opening the hood of my 2011 Sport without touching the "safety latch".

It doesn't cost that much more to just do it yourself.

And yes, I know I need to do a good engine bay cleaning.
